Workers' Educational Association and CLUK team up to launch Carbon Literacy Course
Community Leisure UK is helping the drive to Net Zero with the launch of a bespoke carbon literacy course.
Offered in partnership with the Workers' Educational Association, the course runs over two half days and is delivered via virtual meetings. It's open to anyone working in the UK's charitable sport, leisure and culture sector.
The curriculum covers the science of climate change and how it impacts both locally and globally, as well as giving advice on how to reduce climate impact and leverage support for climate action. Also included is training in creating an action plan, reducing the carbon footprint of organisations and talking effectively about climate change.
Jennifer Huygen, head of policy and strategic partnership at Community Leisure UK says climate change is an urgent priority for the organisation and its members: “The launch of this course builds on the strong engagement we have with members on this important topic and acts on our environmental strategy and Climate Change Action Plan.
“The opportunity to deliver this training, in partnership with the Workers' Educational Association, is exciting – it's essential to progressing Net Zero ambitions across the charitable sport, leisure and culture sector.”
The course costs £50 per person and two people per organisation can attend. For more information and to book go to the Community Leisure UK website.
