Damian Collins remains as Sport Select Committee chair
Damian Collins, MP for Folkestone and Hythe, has been re-elected as chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
Collins has been elected unopposed and will take up his chair when the remaining members of the committee have been elected.
He took over the role in October 2016 when his predecessor, Jesse Norman, was asked to serve as a junior minister at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
The committee has overseen a number of important hearings related to sport over the last few years.
It has an investigations currently ongoing into doping in sport and the child abuse scandal in football.
Scrutiny has also fallen on accessibility of sport stadiums and homophobia in sport.
“I believe in working across the House (of Commons) to get to the truth, producing effective reports and making the necessary recommendations to deliver change,” he said.
