£1.1m fitness and spa revamp completed at Droitwich leisure centre
Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre near Worcester has fully reopened after a £1.1m redevelopment of its fitness and spa facilities.
The works, undertaken in two phases, saw the male changing rooms and a storage garage being converted into a steam and sauna area, while the fitness suite has been relocated next to the wet-side changing rooms.
A new spa suite – featuring an aroma steamroom, salt inhalation room, sauna ice feature, rain showers and heated benches – has also been added.
Designed and built by Createability – in partnership with Dalesauna – the project also included the conversion of an existing function room into a new 65sq m exercise studio space on the ground floor, the removal of a sauna and turning into a new functional training room.
Elsewhere, the 50sq m free weights area has been given new flooring while the 170sq m cv area, kitted with Technogym equipment, has a new layout.
The project was jointly funded by Wychavon Leisure – which operates the centre – and centre owner Wychavon District Council.
Other facilities at the centre include a 25m swimming pool, a four-court sports hall, squash courts and an all-weather outdoor pitch for football and hockey.
