Campbell retains UK Sport chair
Culture secretary Andy Burnham has announced that Baroness Sue Campbell is to remain as chair of UK Sport for a further four years commencing 19 March.
Campbell, who has held the position at the national high performance sports agency since September 2003, will continue to support the World Class Performance Programme in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics. Burnham said: "A key priority for Sue will be to successfully establish a private sector funding stream for elite sport in partnership with the Olympic family. This will be an important legacy for the London Games and I look forward to working with her on it."
Campbell added: "With the continued unprecedented support from the government, the National Lottery and we hope now commercial sponsors, a board which offers expert advice and challenge, an organisation brimming with talented people and strong partnerships with everyone in the sporting landscape, I have no doubt that we will achieve our targets for 2012 and beyond." Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Philip Kimberley has been appointed as a board member of UK Sport. Kimberley is currently non-executive chair of England Hockey and a director of Great Britain Hockey.
