Police still investigating the drowning of three-year-old at David Lloyd club
West Yorkshire Police are still investigating the tragic death of a three-year-old boy who drowned at the David Lloyd Club in Leeds last week.
Officers were called shortly before 9.45am on 21 April to the club on Tongue Lane, Leeds, following a report that a child had entered the pool and drowned. The boy was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.
The boy has since been named as Rocco Wright.
The police have made a call for anyone who visited the pool on the day to come forward.
"We understand that there were a number of people in the pool at the time who left the area prior to police arriving at the scene," said detective inspector James Entwistle of Leeds District CID.
"We would ask these people to come forward to give their accounts of what they have seen and heard.
"While there is nothing to suggest that the death was suspicious, we do have a duty to investigate the circumstances of what has happened."
In a short statement, David Lloyd Clubs said it was working with the police and helping with all their enquiries.
"All of our team at the club are deeply shocked and saddened," a spokesperson for the company said.
"Our thoughts are very much with the boy’s family at this time. We are working closely with the relevant local authorities and have launched a full investigation into this tragic incident."
