Shortlist announced for Sportswomen of the Year awards

The Ashes-winning England cricket team, the world cup-winning rugby union team and European champion Jo Pavey are among the shortlist for this year’s Sportswomen of the Year Awards.

In total, 18 athletes have been named across four different categories, while four teams will be hoping to win the Team of the Year award.

The full shortlists for each category:

Community Award

Now in their 27th year, the awards are sponsored by The Sunday Times and Sky Sports and celebrate the outstanding contribution to sport made by elite performers, coaches, administrators, community volunteers and inspirational female figures.

The winners are chosen by a public vote, which closes on 11 November. The awards night on 19 November will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Barney Francis, Sky Sports managing director, said: “There have been some incredible individual and team performances in women’s sport this year, which made our job as judges tougher than ever.

“As well as rewarding success at the elite level, the awards recognise those individuals that put in hard work and hours every week up and down the country to support women’s sport and we were inspired by the nominations.”
