Bath Rugby has been given the green light to increase the capacity of The Rec to 12,300, after the Charity Commission agreed to an extension of the venue's IPL Stand.

The club has also been successful in securing planning application for the scheme, which aims to improve the "rake" of the stand and provide a new covered disabled viewing area. Bath Rugby chief executive Nick Blofeld said: "We are delighted that more people will be able to enjoy Bath Rugby matches here at The Rec and we hope that we will be able to improve the facilities a little each year

"We would like to thank the Charities Commission for renewing the extension of the IPL Stand and the Council and Trust representatives for all of their efforts in helping." The rebuilding scheme is due to commence on 16 August.
