Delhi 2010 treasurer steps down
Anil Khanna, the treasurer of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, has quit amid allegations of corruption relating to a decision to hire an Australia-based company to lay tennis courts.
According to the BBC, it has been claimed that the contract for the project was awarded to the company because its Indian division was headed up Khanna's son - an allegation that has been strongly denied. It comes after the Central Vigilance Commission - India's anti-corruption body - revealed that 16 Games-related schemes were under suspicion.
Khanna was quoted by the BBC as saying: "I have a clear conscience and I don't want to be seen anywhere near corruption. So I have submitted my resignation for the peace of my family and myself." The Games are scheduled to start on 3 October.
