Plans for a third-generation football pitch on the Crichton Estate in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, have been refused.

The £410,000 project was a joint venture between Dumfries and Galloway College, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Crichton Development Company.

However, planning officers rejected the application on the grounds that the development would "adversely affect the landscape features, character and setting of the site".

It could also "give rise to a material degree of land use conflict, which would materially detract from and/or be incompatible with the character or amenity of the locality".
