Approval for revised Cardiff leisure plans
Members of Cardiff Council's executive have approved revised plans for the redevelopment of Eastern Leisure Centre in Llanrumney, following a consultation with local residents.
The proposed overhaul of the 30-year-old building underwent a review after the council said last October it had received a reduction in Welsh Assembly Government funding.
However, the latest plans have received the green light and will include a deck-level pool and a new dance studio and spin room, as well as improved gym and gymnastics provision.
An open reception area; a café and juice bar; and village-style changing rooms are also set to be included, while the outside five-a-side area is to be converted into a multi-use games area.
Cardiff Council executive member for sport, leisure and culture Nigel Howells said: "Eastern Leisure Centre is a valuable facility right in the heart of the community.
"Improvements to the centre will hugely benefit visitors and demonstrates the council's commitment to providing modern, first class provision for leisure and sport."
