The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has met with the 18 first class counties and the Marylebone Cricket Club to discuss the proposed shake-up of the domestic game.

A reduction in the number of the County Championship games played and a return to 50-over competition are among the recommendations contained in the Morgan Review.

An ECB spokesperson said: "The ECB's board were keen to provide the first class counties and MCC with an opportunity for dialogue on the detailed recommendations."

Somerset County Cricket Club chief executive Guy Lavender said: "There was widespread support and collective determination to ensure we have a vibrant domestic game, with a surprising amount of consensus around a number of key issues."
