LOCOG takes control of Olympic Village
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has handed over London's Olympic Village site to the London 2012 Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
Work has now started on fitting out the apartments and wider village site before athletes and officials arrive in six months' time. The development will house up to 16,000 competitors.
ODA started construction work in 2008 and completed the 2,800 apartments on time. After the Games, the properties will comprise 11 residential plots with gardens and courtyards.
LOCOG chair Sebastian Coe said: "We are starting the huge process to install essential facilities and services ready to welcome competitors from around the world in six months' time."
