Charnwood Borough Council (CBC) has approved plans to undertake a £2m programme of renovation work at local leisure centres this summer in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle.

From mid-June, Loughborough Leisure Centre will undergo a four-month revamp to feature a remodelled reception; a revamped and extended gym; and a new children's soft play area.

Soar Valley Leisure Centre will benefit from work between mid-July and mid-November to include a new health suite; a refurbished gym; and a new-look reception.

CBC cabinet member for leisure and culture Paul Hartley said: "[The work] will transform our leisure centres into almost brand new facilities which are fit for purpose for the 21st century."

Fusion business development director Tim Mills added: "The works planned represent a commitment to redevelop the centres to ensure that they can cater for the increasing demands of our customers."
