Oakwood Theme Park plans £2m investment
Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, has revealed plans for a major £2m investment, installing a Legend of Sleepy Hollow area featuring a range of new attractions to replace the park’s Wild West zone.
Due to open in 2015, Sleepy Hollow will feature a “secluded glen with a haunting atmosphere” to be home to the Headless Horseman and the “Tree of the Dead”. The new themed area at the park – which is owned by Aspro – will be accentuated with local tales of haunted spots and twilight superstitions.
The announcement coincided with a visit from Welsh tourism minister Edwina Hart, who praised Pembrokeshire's “forward looking” tourism businesses.
“Over the past two years we have invested well in excess of £5m in developing new areas of the park and providing visitors with a series of quality new attractions,” said Oakwood’s Clare Stansfield, referencing the Peter Pan-themed Neverland attraction.
“This will continue next year with our exciting new ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’, which will feature a series of spooky new attractions and a major new ride experience.”
Oakwood’s head of operations James Owen added: “The ongoing investment and development of the visitor experience is transforming Oakwood and we are constantly looking at new ways to improve and respond positively to visitor feedback.”
