Football League to adopt UEFA regulations
BY Pete Hayman

Football League member clubs have agreed to implement the Financial Fair Play framework, which has been drawn up by European football governing body, UEFA.

The rules are designed to ensure that clubs break even, with npower Championship clubs to work towards the introduction of the measures ahead of the 2012-13 season.

npower League One clubs also agreed to the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) - a system to ensure that spending on wages is a proportion of total turnover.

In League Two, clubs that support the UEFA measures and already operate the SCMP at a 60 per cent threshold will see the cap reduced to 55 per cent in 2011-12.

Football League chair Greg Clarke said: "Much more work needs to be done, but I am hugely encouraged and impressed by the energy and focus of our clubs on this issue."
