Heritage Lottery Fund to support lido refurbishment
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has announced a major investment in two of the UK's most historic lidos.
The HLF will invest £1.38m to help refurbish both the Grade II-listed Uxbridge lido and the Sandford Parks lido, previously known as the Cheltenham Lido.
£1m will be made available to Hillingdon Borough Council for the refurbishment of the 1935 Uxbridge lido, which is currently unused. The redevelopment is part of a major project on the site, which includes the construction of a new sports complex.
The Sandford Parks lido is one of the most complete examples of its kind in the country, retaining nearly all of its original design details. It will receive a grant of £382,000. Details: www.hlf.org.uk
