Hinckley Gymnastics Club in Leicestershire will be enhanced and a new £1.5m centre built at New College, Braunstone, thanks to a £500,000 Sport England grant.

The existing site will receive a new training facility and will remain a specialist centre, while the Braunstone complex will boast a new 1,000sq m (10,760sq ft) performance hall with seating for 250 spectators, a four-court sports hall and a dance and theatre centre.

Anne Rippon, spokesperson for Sport England, said: “Sport England is delighted to present Hinckley Gym Club with the opportunity to improve the club further. We hope this new facility provides a huge boost for gymnastics and sport in Leicestershire, helping more people get involved in the sport and reach their potential.”

The rest of the funding is being provided by Hinckley Gymnastics Club, New College Leicester and Leicester City Council.
