A new £2m (US$3m, €2.33m) sports complex opened its doors in Heysham, Lancashire earlier this month.

The Heysham Mossgate Community Sports Facility includes a range of indoor and outdoor fitness and health facilities including a 160sq m (1,722sq ft) indoor hall, an outdoor 3G all-weather pitch and changing rooms with showers.

The multi-function hall is able to accommodate a range of uses including fitness classes, parent and toddler groups, community events, youth sessions, private and public functions, exhibitions and performances. People using the hall also have the option of having catering provided, with kitchen facilities on site.

“We are excited by the opportunities our new sports facility will offer all members of the community,” said Jean Yates, chair of the Heysham Mossgate board.

Details of a grand summer opening are to be announced soon.
