£82,000 revamp for Ashford Skate Park
A skate park in Ashford, Kent, is to undergo an £82,000 revamp after regeneration agency Ashford's Future agreed to contribute funding for the scheme.
It is anticipated that the money will be used to create around five high new ramps at the site, with Ashford Borough Council (ABC) working with park users to explore what is needed. A routine inspection of the 10-year-old Ashford Skate Park, which was carried out in July, led to the removal of a number of timber frame ramps due to deterioration.
Four temporary ramps have been installed to enable the council to work up a list of potential new equipment for the venue, as well as funding options. ABC sports projects manager Simon Harris said: "We hope the planned improvements will make it a destination point for young people, and that skaters will continue to respect and look after this facility."
