Everyone Active partners with Public Health England to tackle lockdown inactivity

By Tom Walker    28 Jan 2021
Everyone On Demand offers more than 2,500 fitness classes via Les Mills on Demand, WithU, EXi and Flex by Fitness on Demand / Everyone Active

Everyone Active is offering a month’s free trial of its digital Everyone On Demand service to every member of the general public.

The operator has made the offer as part of the NHS Better Health campaign and is working in partnership with Public Health England (PHE) on the project – but has not received any subsidies towards the cost of offering it for free.

Everyone On Demand will give people access to more than 2,500 fitness classes and a bespoke package of four apps – including Les Mills on Demand, WithU, EXi and Flex by Fitness on Demand.

Everyone On Demand was created during the first national lockdown in 2020, when the operator – which currently manages 190 facilities – pivoted to create an on-demand package containing five apps.

Launched initially as a temporary service, Everyone Active identified a market for the product and proceeded to create a long-term on-demand solution, designed to add value to its membership.

Everyone Active's regional director, Duncan Jefford, said: “Since our launch last year, we’re thrilled to have seen the positive response to our Everyone On Demand offering.

"Thanks to our partnership with Public Health England, the fitness service will be available to everyone across the UK with the month-long free trial.

"This will go a long way to increasing activity figures, which is vital after a year of rising inactivity.”

PHE's ‘Better Health new year’ campaign, launched this month, encourages the nation to work towards a healthier lifestyle – whether it’s losing weight, getting more active, looking after mental wellbeing, or quitting smoking.

As well as the digital partnership with Everyone Active, the campaign offers support through a variety of tools and apps, including the updated NHS 12 Week Weight Loss app.

Public Health Minister Jo Churchill, said: |We know many people want to make changes for a healthier lifestyle and we want to help them.

"So the Better Health campaign provides a range of tools to support people in their choices.

"This, together with the government’s world-leading obesity strategy, will help motivate and support everyone to take up healthier routines in 2021."
