Giant surf park planned for Texas in 2016

Plans have been revealed for a massive surf park development in Austin, Texas, with the first waves set to break at the facility in 2016.
The developers behind the project, a conglomerate known as NLand Surf Park led by businessman Doug Coors and backed by Colorado-based 9th Street Capital, have been relatively quiet on what will be included at the park.
A website set up for the venture, which has since been password protected, touted a 12-acre (48,500sq m) wave pool using Wavegarden technology divided into 11 different surf areas to cater to surfers of varying ability. A location has not yet been named, however permits have been filed by NLand Surf Park for a 160-acre (647,500sq m) waterpark with multiple attractions close to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Using Spanish engineering firm Wavegarden’s technology – the first application of which will be at Wales’ Surf Snowdonia – the planned lagoon would be able to create 300 consistent waves an hour up to 6ft (1.8m) tall for surfers. The park will also be self-sustaining, using rainwater to help maintain the park during the dry season.
