AU$2m for NSW surf lifesaving clubs
Surf lifesaving clubs across New South Wales (NSW), Australia, are set to receive a share of AU$2m (£1.2m, €1.3m, US$1.8m) towards "major infrastructure projects".
A total of 20 organisations will receive funding after the state government confirmed that it was investing in improved surf lifesaving facilities to help rescue services and prevent beach drownings. The announcement takes the NSW government's total investment in surf lifesaving clubs to AU$10m (£6m, €6.6m, US$9m) over the last five years in addition to annual funding.
Phil Vanny, chief executive officer of Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW), said: "The grants give clubs the vital support they need to train their members and store their equipment in safety and to continue to deliver the world-class rescue services the NSW public has come to expect."
