AU$7.2m funding boost for South Australian sports infrastructure
A number of sports organisations across South Australia have received a share of AU$7.2m (US$7.6m, EUR6.1m, £4.9m) of state funding towards infrastructure projects.
The largest share - AU$2.5m (US$2.6m, EUR2.1m, £1.7m) - has been announced towards a second synthetic pitch with floodlighting at Pines Hockey Stadium, Gepps Cross.
Other projects to benefit include the upgrade of Glenuga Reserve Community Sports Hub; a revamp of Novita Pool; and the expansion of the criterium cycling track at Victoria Park.
The funding were distributed through the state's Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Programme (CRSFP), which aims to support grassroots organisations.
State recreation an sport minister Tom Kenyon said: "The state government is committed to ensuring that sporting infrastructure in both regional and metropolitan areas is developed to the highest possible standards."
