Adventure sports event launched in Peebles
An adventure sports tourism event called the Scottish Enterprise Adventure Sports Business Insight will be held on 17 November in Peebles, Scotland.
The conference will discuss the potential of marketing Scotland as a future mountain biking tourist destination.
Keynote speaker at the event is Rob McSkimming – vice president of business development of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Bike Park in Cananda.
Chief executive of Scottish Enterprise Borders, David Gass, and lead development co-ordinator of 7 Stanes, Julie Cartner, will also share their vision of mountain bike tourism in Scotland. 7 Stanes comprises seven mountain biking centres in the south of Scotland operated by Forestry Commission Scotland.
Gass said: “Adventure sports are undoubtedly an area with significant growth potential for Scotland’s tourism sector. We are a country fortunate to be rich in natural assets such as rugged landscapes and green forests which, with careful planning, can be developed to attract more visitors and reap economic dividends.
“It is important to create sustainable projects to help diversify and grow the economy, maximise the potential of the area and its communities and also support the growth of our priority sectors such as tourism and forest industries.” Details: www.scottish-enterprise.com
