Agenda revealed for UKinbound Convention
Mary Rance, chief executive of UKinbound, has revealed the agenda for the annual UKinbound Convention this week.
Accordint to Rance, attendees will have the chance to learn of the opportunities for the UK inbound tourism industry in 2010 and beyond.
She said: "Given the likely constraints on public spending, irrespective of whichever party or parties form a new government, it is vital that the UK inbound tourism industry and the UK as a destination do not lose out on opportunities.
"UKinbound will continue to work with industry partners and lobby to ensure that the awareness of the UK as a tourist destination and the interests of the inbound industry are kept to the forefront."
"The current favourable exchange rate means that the UK is a fantastic value for money destination for many overseas visitors. At the same time we must continue to stress the potential impact deterrents inbound tourism faces, such as Air Passenger Duty and complicated visa process applications, in particular for visitors from the emerging inbound tourism markets in China and India.
"The 2012 Olympics and Paralympics offer some opportunities for the inbound tourism industry in 2012 and beyond, but we are mindful of the need to work together with our partners and ensure that there is clear guidance on what exactly these will be, and how best to manage potential issues such as the displacement of visitors to London in 2012.'
The annual UKinbound Convention will be held in York from 3 to 5 February and is set to attract a record number of over 200 delegates, representing all sectors of the UK leisure inbound tourism industry, of which around 40 per cent are attending for the first time.
