Anfield plans to be considered by council
Plans for Liverpool Football Club's proposed new stadium and adjoining regeneration scheme are being considered by Liverpool City Council.
A report is due to the council's executive board this Friday which details the total cost of the project to be £215m, of which the public sector will be expected to find £26m.
The council is being requested to approve a number of recommendations including the granting of a 999-year lease for the site, and the acceptance of grants from various public sector bodies.
Liverpool will provide the remaining £189m from the private sector, although precise details of this have yet to be finalised.
Provided this funding obstacle is overcome, work could start in the first half of 2007, with a view to completion in 2009.
The proposals include a new community partnership centre as part of the stadium, with education, sport and community facilities, including the replacement of the Vernon Sangster sports centre, which would be demolished.
