Aquaterra Leisure has been awarded the Amateur Swimming Association's Swim 21 quality mark for its Learn to Swim programme at all four of the leisure centres it manages in partnership with Bath and North East Somerset Council.

The Swim 21 quality mark is awarded to centres who have raised the quality of swimming provision and who offer the best possible Learn to Swim programmes. These include: Bath Sports and Leisure Centre, Culverhay Sports Centre, Keynsham Leisure Centre and South Wansdyke Sports Centre.

Jane Lawrence, Swimming Development Manager for Aquaterra Leisure and Bath and North East Somerset Council said:
"Achieving this accreditation is the culmination of two years of dedicated work. We are committed to providing the best possible swimming service and experience for our customers and we're delighted that this has been recognised. The award is valid for four years, but each year we will work closely with the ASA to continually improve and develop what is on offer"."

She added: "Swim 21 is the National Governing Body's blueprint for good practice and is an easily recognisable seal of approval and quality for swimmers and parents alike."

Aquaterra Leisure is the first leisure operator in Somerset to achieve the accreditation and were highly praised for their partnership working and their enthusiasm and commitment to developing their swimming programme, especially with regard to the swimmer pathway in Bath and North East Somerset.

The latest improvement has been to introduce a new software programme at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre and Culverhay Sports Centre that enables parents to view their child's swimming lesson progress via an online portal. The software will be rolled out at Keynsham Leisure Centre and South Wansdyke Sports Centre in Spring 2012.
