Aquaterra celebrates Sobell's 40th birthday with 70s themed youth project
On Saturday 27 July, Aquaterra celebrated the 40th birthday of the Sobell Leisure Centre, Islington with a 70's themed Saturday Night Project®.
Special guest, Councillor and Mayor of Islington, Cllr Barry Edwards was in attendance, having hosen Islington Giving as one of his charities for 2013/14. The Saturday Night Project® is part of its Investing in Young People programme.
The Saturday Night Project® was established to create more activities in the borough for 13 -19 year olds at weekends and is proving hugely popular with an average of 350 young people attending each event. The success of this high profile project is exceeding all expectations as it continues to engage with young people in a positive and inspiring way.
The 70s themed event included sports and activities including squash, trampolining, table tennis, roller skating, basketball, badminton, ice skating plus a whole load more! UK Unsigned DJs and performers also hosted an open mic talent spot and the Islington Dance Academy performed.
