Aspers opens super casino at London's Westfield
Aspers Group has opened the UK's first super casino at Westfield Stratford City in East London.
Facilities at the 65,000sq ft (6,000sq m) include 40 gaming tables, 150 slot machines, a 150-seat poker room and 92 electronic betting terminals as well as a restaurant and two bars.
According to a spokesperson, each area of the casino has been designed to appeal to different types of customers, so cater for experienced gamers as well as recreational gamers and sports enthusiasts.
Aspers Westfield will be open 24 hours for 364 days a year - only closing from midnight to midnight on Christmas Day.
It is estimated that the casino will provide up to 440 new jobs. Aspers has also teamed up with Newham Workplace to maximise the employment opportunities for Newham residents. As part of the scheme, Aspers will pay £50,000 per annum for five years to Newham Workplace to fund its work.
Aspers Casino is a major anchor at the new £1.8bn Westfield Stratford City which as well as containing 250 shops and 70 restaurants also includes an all-digital Vue cinema with 2,832 seats across 14 screens, a 14-lane bowling alley and a total of 617 hotel rooms across three hotels - a four-star Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Premier Inn.
