Assembly launches Olympic Park probe
An investigation into the future environmental sustainability of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has been launched by the London Assembly's environment committee.
Organisers of the 2012 Games have committed to ensuring the site will promote eco-friendly living, with more than 10,000 homes and community facilities to be developed. The committee will look at how the organisers' sustainability targets will be achieved and the impact and benefits of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park going forward.
Work being undertaken by the Olympic Delivery Authority and the Olympic Park Legacy Company will also come under scrutiny as part of the investigation. Murad Qureshi, chair of the environment committee, said: "Bold promises were made about how environmentally-friendly the Stratford site will be.
"We want to investigate how these commitments on its legacy will be fulfilled once the excitement of the Games is over." Image: ODA
