B Corp Beauty Coalition launches to redefine industry’s sustainability standards
Twenty-six Certified B Corporations across eight countries and three continents have formed a new coalition seeking to improve the beauty industry and personal care sector’s sustainability standards.
Named the B Corp Beauty Coalition, the organisation’s mission is to:
– Enable collaboration and exchange between companies.– Identify and share best practices, implement improvement actions and publish their outcomes.
– Help beauty consumers more easily navigate the category.– Influence the beauty industry to trigger broader changes that can improve its social and environmental footprint.
Spa and beauty brands Aromatherapy Associates, Davines and Made for Life Organics are among the new coalition (see below for a full list of brands).
Davide Bollati, president of Davines, founding member of the coalition commented: “As Certified B Corporations, we’ve become increasingly uncomfortable with the beauty industry’s social and environmental footprint.
“We’ve concluded that our respective solo efforts to enable positive change can be enhanced through a partnership of mutual commitment.
“So, we’ve formed a coalition to leverage our combined strengths and deliver tangible
benefits to beauty customers, communities and the planet we share.”

“We're committing to improve four key issues,” adds Shaun Russell, founder of Skandinavisk, and a co-founding member of the coalition.
“Ingredient sourcing and sustainability; greener logistics; packaging responsibility; and consistent and clear external messaging that customers can understand and trust.
“Work has already started, and we’ll be welcoming more certified B Corps to add their talent and contribution as we gather momentum.”
Kara Peck, senior director of strategy and partnerships for B Lab US/Canada, the non-profit organisation behind the B Corporation certification method, says: “With the business sector uniquely culpable for much of the negative impacts of climate change and the systemic inequities we face today, this type of innovative collaboration is exactly what the world needs from business.
“The Coalition's work is going to greatly accelerate the beauty and personal care industry’s – and our economy’s – shift to a just, regenerative and zero-carbon future.”

About Certified B Corporations
Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balances purpose with profit.
The award is only given to companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
They're legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment.
There are currently almost 4,000 Certified B Corporations from more than 150 industries and 70 countries with one unifying goal – to redefine success in business. B Corporation is a certification, like fair trade, but it goes to whole companies.
