Beer spa opens in Czech Republic
A beer health spa has opened in the converted cellar of the Chodova family brewery, situated in Chodova Plana in the Tachov region of the Czech Republic.
Believed to be the world’s first beer spa, treatments will include beer baths and beer massages alongside beer cosmetics.
The cellar boasts seven large Victorian baths where visitors can immerse themselves in a warm bath mixture of mineral water and dark bathing beer enriched by active beer yeast and a mix of dry, crushed herbs, including hops. They can also enjoy a pint of beer while using the baths.
Beer is believed to have many positive effects on the skin and skin conditions and the owners are hoping that the spa will appeal to men who may be deterred from visiting more traditional spas.
Owner Jiri Plevka said: “Beer is an original curative spa therapy connecting a soothing hot bath, healing mineral water, our unique dark Bathing Beer and the rejuvenating effects of beer yeast with a mixture of seven dehydrated curative herbs.
“The baths will harmonise the body’s functions and encourage mental rest, reconditioning and relaxation while detectably improving a person’s immunity.” Details: www.chodovar.cz
