Blaenau Gwent to invest £500,000 in football

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council will consult with local football clubs over its plans to invest £500,000 in new facilities for the area, including at least two 3G pitches.

The region has been named as one of five projects across Wales to obtain the backing of the Welsh Football Trust and Sport Wales, which will support the development of the facilities.

Jason Owen, the council's executive member for leisure, said: "This will be an investment in better facilities and opportunities for our communities, and of course in developing talent in Blaenau Gwent."
