The owners of Brands Hatch circuit is putting the famous racetrack up for sale.

The Interpublic Group, owners of Octagon Motor Sports which includes tracks at Snetterton, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park in addition to Brands Hatch, have recently released figures showing fourth quarter profits for 2001 down from $96.4m to $20.3m.

The company said the figures reflected higher expenses and an acute drop in profits at Octagon and as a result is: 'evaluating exit strategies relative to its motor sport activities.'

Interpublic bought Brands Hatch Leisure in 1999 for £120m but the company, renamed Octagon at the time of the takeover, is now valued at about £44m. Details: www.interpublic.com
