New website educates consumers on the effect of pollution on skin
Global air quality analytics company BreezoMeter and skincare brand Dermalogica have joined forces to educate consumers on how pollution can affect skin ageing.
Because of its absorbent nature, the human skin is incredibly susceptible to external pollutants thanks to the free radicals in toxic air. According to studies, just a few hours of smog exposure can reduce the natural antioxidant Vitamin E in skin by 25 per cent, while air pollution from traffic and soot can increase pigmentation spots by 20 per cent.
Incorporating BreezoMeter’s integrated technology, Dermalogica’s website www.skinpollution.com gives consumers around the world real-time information about the air quality and pollution levels surrounding them.
The tool provides information about location, skin pollution levels, information on the dominant pollutant and where it originates from, and provides skin product recommendations to help the consumer lower their risk of accelerated skin ageing.
BreezoMeter’s features and technology are available via API, allowing companies to create pollution smart online assets, products and apps.
The company also predicts that Dermalogica’s pioneering app will see many other beauty companies following suit in search of similar technology, in order to provide customised solutions to consumers.
“Due to the many aspects of our lives that air pollution affects, we look for solutions for each – one being protecting our skin from toxins,” said Ziv Lautman, BreezoMeter co-founder and CMO.
“By partnering with Dermalogica, we are providing a need to consumers interested in preventing pollution’s damaging effects and keeping skin healthy. At BreezoMeter, we believe this is the future of cosmetics: personal, condition-tailored and connected to the consumer in real-time.”
