Bristol City FC reports £11.8m annual loss
Bristol City Football Club (BCFC) has announced that it made a loss of more than £11.8m for the year to 31 May, compared with £6.6m for the previous year.
According to the npower Championship club, investment in the playing squad, training ground and its new stadium project had been reflected in the figures. BCFC chair Steve Lansdown said: "Our lack of major success on the field, where we exited both cup competitions early again this year, has seen our ticket revenue drop again.
"The delays to our stadium project have not helped our position either. By now we had hoped we would have started the construction phase and been able to draw down on the facility we have arranged for this purpose." Meanwhile, the proposed takeover of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club (SWFC) has reportedly fallen through after the businessman leading the interested consortium pulled out.
