Britain to host major sporting events
Britain will host two major sporting events over the next year, as both the Partially Sighted Football World Championships and the Rowing World Cup will head towards UK shores.
UK Sport has provided £20,000 towards the staging of the football championship, which will take place at the National Cycling centre in Manchester from 11-18 December 2004.
Overall, twelve nations will compete for honours and teams include defending champions Belarus and Brazil.
Meanwhile, the International Rowing Federation (FISA) has awarded the 2005 Rowing World Cup to the UK. The competition will take place at Eton in May 2005.
UK Sport has injected £1.5m of National Lottery funding towards both the World Cup and the 2006 World Rowing Championships, which was also awarded to Great Britain.
