Britannia acquires Heathlands Hotel
Britannia Hotels has acquired the 115-room Heathlands Hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, for an undisclosed sum believed to be around £4m.
The property, was put up for sale after its previous owner, a privately-owned operator, was placed into administration. Christie + Co acted on behalf of the administrators on the sale.
Facilities at the hotel include 220-cover Pavilion restaurant, a 50-cover lounge bar and six conference and banqueting suites.
Britannia, founded in 1976, is the one of the UK's largest private hotel company with a portfolio consisting of more than 7,000 bedrooms. Heathlands will become the company's third property in Bournemouth joining The Roundhouse, and New Ambassador Hotel, which Britannia acquired in 2006.
Ed Bellfield, director at Christie + Co, said: "Despite the challenging conditions facing the hotel sector, there are still buyers who are willing to move quickly for realistically priced businesses."
