GB Athlete of the Year, Christine Ohuruogu, has had a lifetime ban from the Olympic Games overturned on appeal, reports the BBC.

The current 400m World Champion had been banned from competing for a year after missing three drug tests. Despite triumphing in Osaka in the summer, BOA laws dictate that athletes banned for drug offences are ineligible for future Olympic Games.

However, following a hearing in which the Sports Dispute Resolutions Panel unanimously agreed to overturn the ban, Ohuruogu secured her right to compete for a place in Beijing 2008.

Londoner Ohuruogu had been banned after failing to be at training locations at times she had specified to testers.
