British basketball jumps through hoops for FIBA
The British basketball squad is setting its sights on the London Olympics, following the lifting of FIBA’s ban, which means they can compete on the international stage.
The sport’s international governing body confirmed that the issues concerning the future of basketball in England had progressed sufficiently for it to as “an act of good faith” allow the players to take part in upcoming matches.
Chair of the British Basketball Association, Bill McInnes, says: “We welcome FIBA’s leadership. It is everyone’s best interests that we make sure the foundations of British basketball are solid.”
One of the decisions underpinning basketball’s future was setting up the British Performance Basketball, which has a clear mandate to focus on giving teams the tools they need for success.
