Builder appointed for redevelopment of Perth's nib Stadium

BGC Construction has secured a construction contract for the overhaul of Perth's nib Stadium in Western Australia.
Announcing the appointment, Western Australia's sport and recreation minister Terry Waldron also confirmed that all temporary sections of the venue will be replaced after the eastern, northern and southern sections were incorporated into the redevelopment plans.
A budget of AU$95.14m (US$95m, EUR76m, £61m) has been set for the scheme, which will provide better spectator facilities and is due to get underway on 2 July.
Perth Glory will continue to use the stadium at a reduced capacity of 9,500 throughout the 2012-13 A League season, with the first phase due for completion in March 2013.
After the major construction works, capacity will increase to 20,500. A new playing surface and seating in the northern bowl area will be installed between July and October 2013.
Waldron said: "The redevelopment will provide a huge boost to the stadium amenity and, in turn, will provide a much better spectator experience."
