CHI residential concept launches in Fiji
The Hong Kong based group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has launched a residential spa village facility under its signature CHI, The Spa brand at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort in Yanuca, on Fiji’s Coral Coast.
The spa covers 32,291sq ft (3,000sq m) and has as a village layout, which includes overnight accommodation with 10 sea-facing residential and treatment villas. The decor and treatment menu have been designed to reflect the islands’ culture and tropical customs.
Signature treatments use Fijian remedies, ingredients and techniques. Its Bobo Massage, for example, employs firm massage movements and coconut oil followed by a warm poultice of Fijian medicinal herbs such as makita and macou, both of which are believed to reduce blood pressure.
The resort has 442 guestrooms, suites and bures (bungalows) and is located on a 109-acre private island with a causeway joining it to the mainland.
Shangri-La’s next CHI facilities to launch will be in Boracay in the Philippines and the Maldives in late 2008 and Tokyo, Japan, and Vancouver, Canada, both in early 2009.
