Canada-based Canlan Ice Sports Corp has secured an 11-year lease for the company's first "non-ice" multi-sports complex, which is to be located in Mississauga, Ontario.
The 55,000sq ft (5,110sq m) venue will focus on field and court-based sports, with facilities to include three professional volleyball courts and two indoor artificial turf fields.
A one sport floor rink and a fully-licensed food and beverage area will also form part of the new indoor complex, which can be turned into an open-air venue with nine large overhead doors.
Canlan will create the new facility through the refurbishment of a vacant warehouse and will invest around CA$1.7m (US$1.6m, EUR1.3m, £1.1m) in leasehold improvements.
Joey St-Aubin, president and CEO of Canlan, said: "The location and demographics of this future facility are ideal as it is situated in one of Canada's fastest growing and densely populated cities.
"It is also conveniently accessible by car, public transportation and is located near the Go Train line, providing high accessibility and exposure to daily commuters."
