Cisco signs agreement with Real Madrid
Cisco Systems has secured a new agreement with Spain-based football club Real Madrid to "transform" the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium experience for visitors and spectators.
As part of the deal, a high-density Connected Stadium Wi-Fi network will be installed at the venue to offer a "more interactive, customised" through smartphones and mobile devices.
It is anticipated that the solution will enable fans to share matchday experiences with others at the stadium, as well as millions more people around the world through social media applications.
Meanwhile, the network will also ensure consistent connectivity by 'off-loading' data traffic and ensuring that cellular network bandwidth is freed up for phone calls and text messaging.
Real Madrid staff will benefit from a new communication channel through the venue's Wi-Fi network, which will enhance security and operational services.
Real Madrid chief information officer Enrique Uriel said: "We are always looking to have cutting-edge technology and security and to offer a unique fan experience.
"We are excited to deliver a more customized game environment and provide fans with new options to interact and share their experiences via their mobile devices."
