Cleaning up on synthetic grass
For anyone with the job of cleaning and maintaining a synthetic grass surface filled with either sand and/or rubber granulate, the CareMax could make life a lot easier.
Built by German company SMG, the petrol-driven, ride-on machine has a rotating brush on the front which picks up the top layer of the material, the brush being adjustable to a range of depths.
Once collected, two sieves separate fine and coarse dirt from the granulate. This is then sent to a filter box at the back of the machine and the cleaned filling material is re-spread.
Triangular brushes beneath the machine and a maintenance broom at the back cover a width of 1,600mm. When working, the brush fibres are straightened in one pass, with rubbed-off fragments being gathered up and the filled material levelled.
Mounting the triangular brushes and the maintenance broom is easily done by hand and the rotating brush is raised and lowered manually using a lifting device.
The filter box – which has a capacity of about 100ltrs – is raised and tipped for emptying by an electric motor and dust can be removed from the filter by means of a hand-wheel.
