Coe promise that 2012 tickets will be affordable
Sebastian Coe, the chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), has told the Culture, Media and Sport select committee that half of the eight million tickets put on sale would be available for less than £20.
Reporting to the House of Commons select committee, Coe said that the strategy was to ensure affordable ticket prices and full venues.
Around half of the tickets will be available for £20, with two thirds available for less than £30.
Keith Mills, the deputy chair of Locog, added that every available technology would be used to ensure that ticket touts could not cash in on the Games: “There is an active and thriving black market in every city in the world for sporting tickets and we have to stop the abuse.”
