Las Palm, the company behind the Adventure World Warsaw plans, has signed an official 'handover protocol' with Polish contractor Imtech Polska to mark the start of construction work on the 230-hectare (568-acre) resort.
Registered in Luxembourg, Las Palm is an international consortium of private and institutional investors which is funding the EUR400m (US$487m, £315m) project.
Companies involved with the scheme include JoraVision, Vekoma Rides Manufacturing and AGS Architects - all based in The Netherlands.
German water ride manufacturer Hafema and consulting firm Tebodin will also work on the construction of Adventure World Warsaw, which is due for completion in 2015.
Located in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, near the Polish capital city Warsaw, the resort will include a large theme park and an adjacent waterpark as well as two hotels.
Peter Jan Mulder, CEO of Las Palm, said: "Watching the works on the site of the Adventure World Warsaw I can see our dream come true.
"I'm really happy and proud with where we are today and I want to thank our partners and the authorities of Grodzisk Mazowiecki for supporting us and staying by our side all this time."
Adventure World Warsaw Parks & Resort is billed as the first themed amusement park in Poland and is the biggest resort development in Eastern Europe.
