Council to bid for HLF museum support
Bromley Council has agreed to submit a first stage application to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) as part of efforts to finance an expansion of Bromley Museum.
The submission will include plans for the extension of visitor facilities into the empty Orpington library building and repairs to the current Grade II*-listed building. Proposals also include the improvement of exhibition spaces for local artefacts and the expansion of the attraction's learning facilities.
Julian Benington, the council's executive councillor for renewal and recreation, said: "Bromley Museum in Orpington is an extremely valuable resource and this is a fantastic opportunity to improve the facilities. "We have a long term vision for the borough and we are determined to ensure that further improvements will make Orpington even more vibrant and competitive."
