Council to consult on London Colney plans
St Albans City and District Council (SACDC) will consult with both London Colney Parish Council and local district councillors over a new leisure venue at Cotlandswick Open Space.
The district council's cabinet has agreed that the consultation will encompass issues such as the facility mix; the impact of traffic in the area; and the site's location inside the Green Belt. SACDC portfolio holder for sport, leisure and heritage Mike Wakely said: "Cabinet feels that there is a need to fully consult about what is needed in the area and what would be acceptable."
The new Cotslandwick facility was initially due to replace Bricket Wood Sports Centre, which closed in February 2010, and London Colney Recreation Centre. The latter will remain open "for the foreseeable future".
