Haringey Council is to discuss Tottenham Hotspur Football Club's (THFC) plans to develop a new stadium at a special meeting of its planning committee later today [30 September].

The Premier League club is proposing to build a new 56,250-seat venue, a new club store with museum and a public square as part of the KSS-designed Northumberland Development Project. Plans also include an overhaul of the Grade II-listed Warmington House and three other historic buildings, while the Bill Nicholson Gates and Golden Cockerel statue are to be re-used.

Committee members will convene at 7pm in the council chamber of Haringey Civic Centre to discuss the project, which was revised following consultation with a range of agencies. A report has recommended that committee members be minded to grant permission and listed building consent, although the London mayor is expected to have the final say.

The report said: "The current scheme represents a significant improvement over the previous scheme which was withdrawn in May of this year. "The revised scheme successfully addresses the conservation deficit caused by the loss of heritage assets and will positively enhance the character and appearance of the North Tottenham Conservation Area."
